Ainslie Ivin-Renaud
Mental Health Nurse
About me
Hi, I'm Ainslie , I have been drawn to working with people and promoting mental health since graduating from the University of Sydney with my nursing qualification in 1989.
Since then I have worked in many varied settings , with people of all ages , in roles that have involved care management, therapy and assessment.
I have developed the interpersonal skills of listening attentively, being dependable, exercising tolerance and practising empathy.
My experience and commitment to personal and professional growth enabled me to qualify as a credentialed mental health nurse in 2010.
I bring to my work a positive attitude and approach and engage with my patients in a way that is trauma-informed and other-centred, mindful that they hold the expert information that will lead to healing, empowerment, growth and optimal mental health.
When I’m not on the Therapy Hub assessment line I love painting pictures, going to new places, swimming in the sea and generally getting out and about in nature.
I hope to connect with you soon!
My Approach
My way of connecting with people is conversational and non-confrontational. I create a non-judgmental space in which my patient is comfortable and feels safe enough to share with me the information needed for us to determine a suitable referral pathway to therapy. I work holistically, recognising that all facets of the human experience are impactful on mental state.
I have learnt over time the importance of a trauma-informed approach with attachment theory and origin stories as foundational, and to see each new patient encounter as unique.
I am mindful of the immense privilege and responsibility it is to be able to engage with people who are in distress, perplexed or troubled and who can be assisted by the sharing of their stories. It can be a very important and profound step toward empowerment, growth and peace.
