Janny Dang

Clinical Psychologist based in Vietnam

About me

Hello! I’m Janny Dang, a Clinical Psychologist with five years of experience dedicated to improving mental health and well-being across various populations. My educational journey includes a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, where I achieved a commendable GPA of 3.64. My training has equipped me with a diverse set of evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I have had the privilege of working in multiple clinical settings, including the National Institute of Mental Health and the Kazu Clinic, where I provided comprehensive psychological assessments and personalized treatment plans. I believe in a holistic approach to mental health, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure that each individual receives tailored support suited to their unique needs.

I am also passionate about community engagement and mental health education, which led me to found The Happiness Project. Through this initiative, I’ve organized workshops and interactive sessions aimed at fostering mental well-being and promoting awareness within the community. My goal is to make mental health resources accessible and normalize seeking help, particularly in underserved communities.

Fluent in both English and Vietnamese, I am committed to serving diverse populations and advocating for inclusivity in mental health care. I look forward to contributing my skills and passion for mental health to support individuals on their journey to well-being.

My Approach

My Approach
Top Conditions Treated: Depression and Anxiety Disorders: These are the most common conditions where techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Behavioral Activation (BA), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) are applied. Addiction and Substance Use: I often use Motivational Interviewing to help clients resolve ambivalence and find the internal motivation for change.

Stress and Adjustment Disorders: Short-term stress, life transitions, and coping strategies are areas where Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and mindfulness techniques help clients manage symptoms effectively.

Motivational Interviewing (MI): This approach focuses on helping individuals find their motivation to make positive changes, particularly in treating addiction, unhealthy behaviors, or ambivalence about change.

Behavioral Activation (BA): BA is a form of therapy that focuses on engaging individuals in activities they used to enjoy or value but may have stopped doing due to depression. By gradually reintroducing positive behaviors, it helps to alleviate symptoms of depression.

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT): SFT is a short-term therapeutic approach that emphasizes finding solutions to current problems by focusing on strengths and past successes rather than delving deeply into issues.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): ACT is a mindfulness-based therapy that encourages individuals to accept their thoughts and feelings without judgment while committing to actions aligned with their values.
